This page is intended as reference guide for the team in the Volta region conducting the farmer-to-farmer video production and dissemination. This contains mainly information on the 'hows' and 'what to do' as discussed during the training in Hohoe on 23-26 Jan 2014.
As a start, the participants shared ideas and dreams on how they see their communities after 5 years.
'The valleys are all developed. Fifty percent of the community members have improved livelihoods. Yields are increased up to 70%. 80% of farmers are practicing mechanized farming. 80% of children are in school.'
Currently, most of them share ideas through face-to-face discussions among community members, field demonstrations, training and lectures'.
They are motivated to work together to achieve their 'dreams' through:
'better use of knowledge, better planning, better record keeping, continue demonstration and field visits, encourage each other, and use videos to share technologies.'
Important facilitation skills when talking to farmers:
S = standing square
O = open space, no obstruction in between speakers
L = lean forward, to indicate that you are listening
E = maintain eye contact
R = be relaxed when interacting.
